Catching Up...Christmas 2010

Christmas morning is always a fun time.  We get everyone up BEFORE any presents are opened.  This year, we waited for Grandpa Bill and Grandma Sally to arrive.  We were able to have their dog Sarah with us too.  Everyone looks their "best" Christmas morning...especially since we jump out of bed and head for the tree.

Christmas Eve

Christmas was a little different this year. Most family members had other plans. Rick and Sandy came with Tarzan. Brian and his children, Alex, Justin and Luke came. Kari was sick, so she stayed at home. (Thank you for not sharing that stomach bug!) We had our traditional Prime Rib (oh it was YUMMY this year), Cheesy Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole, Hawaiian Rolls, Grandma Ollie's Apricot Delight Jello Salad, Cocktail Shrimp, Green Salad and IBC Rootbeer. We were so stuffed that we had to put off the various pies for a while.

After dinner, Grandpa Bill and Grandma Sally came to visit bringing gifts for the youngest ones. Here is the tribe...rather small this year!
Did you see all those presents? Above is Rick and Chris enjoying a computer game.
Here is Wayne trying to get up from the table after eating such a good meal!
Brian was found relaxing playing the XBOX! Since there were so few of us, it was a very relaxing evening.
Tiffany and Justin hanging out.
Luke, Ryan and Jessica.
Alex opening her beautiful jewelry box.
Luke, opening his fire truck. Actually, this is AFTER he had opened it. Luke loves fire trucks...when he opened his present, he just SQUEALED with delight. He ran over to Grandpa and hugged him and thanked him over and over again. It was fun to watch.
Justin got a Nerf Gun. He only lost a couple of his "bullets" before he left.
Tiffany was chosen to open the present to all the Porter children.
It is the Sonic the Hedgehog Game for their new XBOX 360 with Kinect...watch for a future blog concerning this game!
What happy children!
It was a fun Christmas Eve. I have to say that we keenly felt Mom's absence. I'm sure she would have wanted us to celebrate and enjoy each others company...just like we did! Thanks to Rick, Sandy, Brian and his children for helping me to feel loved and cared for!

WISDOM TEETH

Between my birthday and Christmas, Ryan got to have his wisdom teeth removed. He had 2 impacted, 1 partially impacted and one completely out. We opted to have him put to sleep for his procedure. It was humorous to watch him be put under. At first he was talking non-stop...then he started speaking slower and slower until finally...he was asleep...it was like he was talking in slow motion.

When he woke up, he was quite angry. He thought we should let him sleep longer. He wanted the IV out immediately, but they said no. He really wanted to walk out of the office, but he was told he had to go out in a wheel chair. He kept insisting that there was nothing wrong with his legs. Talk about ornery!!! They finally let us leave by putting him in the wheelchair...he was NOT happy! He tried to insist on wheeling himself. (He lost that battle) He was relatively quiet on the ride home, but kept insisting he could do everything. We had a battle of wills when he insisted he could get out of the car when we got home...I made him stay until I could come around the van and help him out.

Unlike his sister, he was relatively MEAN. No one liked being around him! Here is the video Jessica took when he first got home...

After a while, we all decided he could have the family room to himself. He didn't like being alone though. As the night wore on, he got more ornery. So we called in the 'big guns"...Grandpa Bill. We had him and Wayne give him a blessing and then we conned Grandpa into staying and babysitting while we went shopping. I guess Grandpa had no problem with him.

We all decided that he would make a MEAN drunk ;) Good thing we love him!

P.S. I hope the video works!

Catching Up

I thought I would warn you all that I am going to play catch up. Over the next day or two, I will try to get my Christmas pictures up and try to get my family "journal" updated.
